It makes sense that it could be seen as cultural appropriation, because of the style and the clasps (theyre actually traditionally called frogs lol). But coming from an asian person, as long as yall arent wearing it and pretending to be asian or making fun of asian culture, its a nonissue, just dont be insensitive or racist at all, period.
I would love to buy this but I don't know if I actually receive it :/
You crazy white people are so stupid honestly, you think this is cultural appropriation a top that NO ONE is making fun of or even mocking in the slightest. Please stop speaking for my people and thinking you are woke. Your not! Quite the opposite because you are telling other people to not enjoy our culture and not wear it. YOU are stopping other people from sharing/enjoying our culture and telling us that we should be offended by people wanting to wear this top. Just please shut up! And let people make their own decisions, thank you.
Sincerely a Filipino/Northern Chinese girl who is sick and tired of people who think they can talk for the Asian community.
Everyone gets so sensitive about everything. I get it, the top resembles Chinese culture. Be proud that your culture is being showed around the world through this website in beautiful clothing that can teach someone else about your culture. See the positive. Your culture is being appreciated and twisted so that it can actually be worn on an everyday basis. I went to fashion school and used to love fashion because I thought there were no rules to fashion, and that's what made it fun and interesting, until I learned how sensitive people get about Cultural Appropriation then it was no longer fun. Change that word to appreciation and let everyone wear whatever they want.
THERES A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CULTURAL APPRECIATION AND CULTURAL APPROPRIATION. If this was just a “modern twist” to traditional Chinese clothing then why not at least add it to the name? This is just another example of sexualizing tradition Chinese dresses.
